Regarding to a steady rise and continuous ageing trend in the population of ethnic minorities (EMs) in Hong Kong, their needs of using various mainstream elderly services has increased simultaneously. Owing to language and cultural differences, EM elders and their caregivers encounter difficulties in accessing local culture, various social systems and social service information, which impede them from obtaining appropriate social services. Meanwhile, their insufficient understanding of needs of EM elders, makes the existing service providers inadequate to address to their unique needs.
Therefore, Hong Kong Christian Service funded by the Community Chest, has launched "Support to Ethnic Elderly (SEE)" Project in April, 2019. The project aims at facilitating the social inclusion of EM elders in Hong Kong, supporting their caregivers and mainstream elderly service providers. The project also promotes the connection among EM elders, their caregivers and the mainstream elderly service providers. Our objectives include:
Shamshuipo, Yau Tsim Mong and Kowloon City Districts
